4 Lighting Trends of the Future
As part of its special Bright Ideas issue, modern design magazine Dwell examines the past, present, and future of lighting and lighting technology. Experts believe the lighting of the future will be influenced by increasing energy costs, a growing interest in green lifestyles, and advances in lighting technology such as LED and compact fluorescent lighting. Here are four lighting trends of the future identified in “Lumen on the Horizon”:
- Lighting will be more energy efficient and last longer, and usage of low-efficiency incandescents will decrease.
- Daylight harvesting will become part of lighting design, especially in commercial architecture.
- LED lighting will produce higher quality color with a warmer look.
- Lighting will be more integrated into the architecture of buildings and residences.
